Museum Posters / Tickets / Merch

MANEGE is the state culture establishment of Moscow Museum and Exhibition Association. Here is a series of repertoire posters as well as tickets for particular events and souvenir products.

The first poster is dedicated to one event. More precisely, it is a cycle of events: a course of lectures on the general history of art. The second one tells about permanent expositions placed on three different sites of the Exhibition Association. The third poster contains a schedule of all events and exhibitions for a month.

Before getting down to the task, I was inspired by the iconic Swiss design, and especially by the works of Josef Müller-Brockmann. The most important element in the posters' series is the grid, which organizes its unified internal system, determining the information blocks arranging method and their mutual relations. The "skeleton" of my posters is a five-column grid, which, on the one hand, has strict boundaries, but at the same time, allows text blocks to be placed flexibly within its limits, depending on their size, functions and relationships.

The next step was to make tickets for the event in electronic and paper formats.

Having analyzed a large number of electronic tickets for various events I identified the existing trends, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the examples studied, after which I compiled my own version of the electronic ticket. Its main features are the highlighting of basic information (about the date, time and place of the event) and its readability, a sufficiently large QR-code, so you can conveniently show your ticket on the screen of your smartphone or tablet, the presence of a local map that helps you to get to the place of the event. It fits the A4 format and looks equally good in both color and black-and-white versions.

I decided to make a paper version of the ticket in the same style with the posters. The back side contains all the basic information about the event, the barcode for passing through the tourniquet and links to the museum pages in social networks. Also it has the optimal size 120×60 mm which is not too small to be lost, and compact enough to put it in the cover of the passport, wallet or pocket.

The following part of this project is souvenir products with the event symbols design development. These are notebooks and pencils for taking notes during lectures, bookmarks with a schedule of all Course lectures, staff t-shirts, pins and paper bracelets for the participants of the event.
